Food Pantry Keeps Students from Going Hungry

Hunger strikes everywhere, but at UW-Stevens Point, a food pantry comes to the rescue for students.

It's called The Cupboard, and it has been in operation since October 2011. SInce then, the pantry has distributed over 11,500 pounds of food.

"What makes The Cupboard unique is that it is run by students," says Liz Wescott, Operations Coordinator. "All the volunteers are students, the food drives are put on by students and staff, and it's also for the students."

Any UWSP student can use The Cupboard. It's open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 2 until 4:30 p.m. Online order forms are also available for students who do not want to come to the pantry in person for confidentiality reasons or for students who are not available during the times it is open.
