TOWN OF FLORENCE, Wis. (AP) -- Some senior home residents displaced by fire have spent a second night sleeping in an elementary school gym in Florence County.
Officials suspect a lightning strike started a fire at the Golden Living Center in Florence Sunday. Fire doors kept the blaze contained to one wing.
WLUK-TV says 31 residents are bunking at the Florence school and 10 others are with family members.
Florence County Sheriff Jeff Rickaby says the school is all part of the center's disaster plan. He said the shelter was open shortly after the call for help was made. The Red Cross has provided cots and mattresses.
