Fitzgerald to Challenge Thousands of Recall Signatures

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he plans on challenging enough signatures on recall petitions to stop any election.

Fitzgerald said Tuesday he will also make a number of other challenges, including arguing that newly drawn legislative boundaries should have been in play for the collection of the signatures.

Thursday is the deadline for Fitzgerald and three other incumbent Republican senators to file challenges to the recall petitions.
Organizers collected about 20,600 signatures to recall Fitzgerald. They needed 16,742.

A spokesman for Senate Republicans would not say what challenges would be filed by the other senators. Fitzgerald says he doesn't know how many signatures they will contest.

The other targeted senators are Pam Galloway of Wausau, Van Wanggaard of Racine and Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls.

To the two anonymous comments: One commenting about charges and collective bargaining. The second about a representative republic. We are seeing democracy leaving this great country because of Walker and his thugs. It may not be totally illegal but unethical. Time for you to grasp on to something besides unions, teachers bashing. You may realize it may be more about them trying to control the voters. The reason for the Recall. This may be their downfall.

When cornered these bullies are no different than rats. They are scared of the unknown that awaits them. When I see them out there crying, I think of the pictures of rats on the rope tying up the docked ship. When they were on the ship and in control they did what they pleased. Now when there is a big chance of the ship sinking, they are worried. Possible no more control. If it wasn't so serious you could laugh it off.

Time for them to grab the nearest life perserver. You are right the music from the Titanic is playing. Only those who can not hear or choose not hear will not accept this. These rats will keep grasping at any thing to keep from going down with Walkers ship. Only time will tell how many of them can tread water!

To the other anonoymous: Time will tell where it all leads and we will see if Walker remains in handcuffs or will the 2 laywers get him off on a lesser charge. I believe people have saw enough. Wisonsin has become a dictatorship. Pure and simple. Oh by the way I am just a voter, no teacher and no union. I just want to see justice for all of us! Only way to do this is remove some of the Republican thugs from office.

What charges have been filed against Walker or any other pub? Far as I can see they have done nothing illegal. All they did was end the raping of Wisconsin taxpayers by means of collective bargaining.

I believe I hear the music from "Titanic" in the background!

Even though I'm looking at a picture of a well-groomed and polished politician, why am I still hearing the voice of Boss Hogg from the Dukes of Hazzard?

It is amusing that you try and use the phrase "Tea Bagger" to try and insult people who join the Tea Party, when it is you liberals that are ACTUAL tea baggers. Pretty funny.

Sounds like a rat trying to find another hole in the wall he can crawl through when he finds out the first one might be closed.

I am amazed at the amount of comments with poor grammer, incomplete sentences, no direction and the name calling. I read the comments by David and Pete and I felt it was time to make this comment. I can see why they hate teachers, they never attended a school. But if I am wrong and they did attend classes they did put their studies to use.
