For many of us the 4th of July would not be complete without a magnificent fireworks display. But have you ever stopped to think just how much it costs to light up the night sky? News Channel 7 took a look into just how much our municipalities spend.

Both Stevens Point and Wausau spent $10,000 on their display this year -- that's the same amount as last year's shows.

In Merrill, the budget was a little smaller at $5,500 -- thats up by $500 from last year.

Antigo spent $8,000 -- also up by $500 from 2012's show.

Rhinelander spent $7,500 on their display -- $500 lower than last year. Mayor Richard Johns says that is due to the fact that they went with a new company for this year's show.

Mosinee could not give us an exact amount, but they say their budget has also stayed the same from years past.
