GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay firefighters have rescued a man who collapsed in a large fuel storage tank.

Crews from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department were called to the U.S. Oil Co. tank farm just after 11 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters were able to rescue the man. But a floating floor inside the tank -- that moves up and down with the gasoline to prevent a buildup of explosive vapors -- created some additional challenges.

Battalion Chief Rob Goplin tells Press-Gazette Media firefighters put the man in a rescue basket, then brought him up from the floating roof to the roof of the tank. Crews then brought the man to a ladder truck and brought him to the ground.

The man was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown Monday afternoon.
