A rural Marathon County cabin is believed to be a total loss after a fire Monday night.

Crews were called to the scene in a remote area near the town of Elderon around 9:15 p.m. Monday. The cabin was already engulfed when fire crews arrived.

A lieutenant with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department tells NewsChannel 7 no one was injured as a direct result of the fire, although a teenager, whose family owns the cabin, was cut when he tried to retrieve keys from inside the home.

The fire is believed to be accidental but the cause is still under investigation.
