Charges have now been filed against two people accused of abusing an eight-month-old boy last summer in Wood County.

Twenty-seven-year-old Robert Winker and 20-year-old Kurstyn Bieneman, both of Racine are facing multiple charges including child neglect and child abuse.

A criminal complaint says Bieneman and Winkler were staying at a Nekoosa home on August 12, 2012 and were responsible for the care of the baby. The child's grandmother took the boy to the hospital after discovering injuries.

The Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune says medical records show the baby had fractures in his wrist, legs, ankle and ribs. He also had a swollen eye, blood in his ear canals and bruises on his face.

A criminal complaint says Winker told investigators Bieneman was physically rough with the baby. Bieneman says she saw Winker shake the child.

The two are scheduled to be in Wood County Feb. 20 to enter a plea to the charges and to learn if their cases will head to trial.
