Department of Natural Resources has ordered an immediate drawdown of Sherwood Lake due to the failure of a spillway levy.

According to a press release from Clark County Emergency Management, an uncontrolled release of water is taking place. Officials say the release does not present any residential threat due to the slow rate of release.

Entry points to the lake are being closed to prevent access onto the ice. People should not venture out onto the ice for any reason.

Clark County officials are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.

Sherwood Lake is about 18 southeast of Neillsville.
