Families in northcentral Wisconsin will have a ton of choices for events to take part in the weekend of July 10 to July 13. Below are a list of activities by county.

Step back in time and come take part in a Wild West train robbery. An authentic Cowboy Reenactment and robbery of the Lumberjack Steam train. Come and ride the train and experience the Wild West up close.

A Free Shuttle Bus will take you between the Balloon and Rib Fest to Chalkfest in Wausau’s River District.

Biplane Rides
Passengers will fly over downtown Wausau, the Wisconsin River, Rib Mountain or other nearby areas of their choice.
Each biplane ride can take up to 2 passengers at a time and are $90/per person for the 15-20 minute flight experience.

8th Annual Texas Roadhouse Kids' Fishing Derby
Blue Gill Bay Park, Rib Mountain
Saturday, July 12
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Registration / Check-in
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Fishing Derby
12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. Barbeque and Awards Ceremony
Cost: $5 per child and is limited to 75 children
Children ages 5 - 12 are invited to participate in a fishing derby with professional bass fisherman, Mike DelVisco at Blue Gill Bay Park. Younger siblings may also fish, but will not be able to compete. A full-time angler, DelVisco, will share fishing tips, teach children about the art of fishing, and sign autographs at the event. While there, families can see Delvisco's state-of-the-art Phoenix bass boat and truck.
In addition, the Wausau Texas Roadhouse will be selling brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks. All proceeds from food sales and registrations will be donated to the Wausau Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.

Outdoor retailer, Gander Mountain will be donating live worms. Advanced registration is required. First 75 kids will receive a Texas Roadhouse Fishing Derby t-shirt.

3rd Annual Northwoods Heritage Fest

Daily and nightly live entertainment will feature the Kinsella Irish Dancers; Bret & Frisk; Jay Gates; Rod Stewart Impersonator; Diamond Pepper "Songs of Neil Diamond"; Jim Pekol Bavarian Band; Wisconsin River Band, and more.
"This year we are paying tribute to Irish - Polish - Italian - German - Wisconsin, and USA heritages, says Skip Brunswick, Executive Director of Three Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
Northwoods Heritage Fest will feature several pavilions where each nationality will showcase their heritage and traditions through food and desserts. A separate international entertainment pavilion will feature a variety of country-focussed performances throughout the two-day event.
Admission to the event is free, including free shuttle service from parking to the athletic field.

Island Art Walk

Art show will again be at Torpy Park
The Campanile Center is the next stop on the art walk as the visitors continue down Flambeau Street for the Island Art Walk student event, which will display unique individual pieces of art and crafts in the student section. During this part of the show, visitors can view the very talented work of local art students. Ribbons are awarded for the students' work. Visitors are encouraged to stop and browse at these 3 local businesses and visit the Campanile Center.

32nd Annual Bear River Pow-Wow
July 11 - 13, 2014
The Tribe invites you to attend the 32nd Annual Bear River Pow-Wow. The annual event is a summer classic that celebrates traditional Native American culture. Tribes from across the United States and Canada gather to showcase the best singing and dancing that Indian Country has to offer.
There will be arts and crafts and food vendors. A traditional feast will be held on Saturday evening. Grand entry times are Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Open to the public, admission is $10 for a weekend pass or $7 daily.

Casting contest from 10:30-11:30am.
At 11:30 names are drawn for fishing with a guide. Children will then either head out to the Trout Hatchery (returning about 3pm) or head out with a guide (returning about 3:30pm). Bag lunch and soda provided for all kids fishing with guides or traveling to the hatchery. Guides will provide all fishing gear and lifejackets or children may bring their own. Bait is provided by area bait shops.

Volunteers and lit mile markers guide 1K and 5K participants past the scenic Wisconsin River, through peaceful streets past beautiful Yellow Birch and Silver Lakes with some slight changes in elevation and small hills before the final stretch back to the starting area.
