Eight Year Anniversary of Pluto's Demotion to a Dwarf Planet

August 24th is the eighth anniversary of what used to be our ninth planet, Pluto's demotion to a dwarf planet. It was demoted back in 2006. NewsChannel 7 spoke with University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Physics and Astronomy Professor Randy Olson to tell us why the changed happened.

If you would like to learn more about astronomy, our solar system, and beyond there are some upcoming public shows at the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium and the Arthur J. Pejsa Observatory on the U.W.S.P. campus.

Public Planetarium Shows:
Sunday September 14, 2pm
Monday September 15, 8pm

The Observatory is scheduled to open on September 15 as long as skies are clear.
