Today is earth day. To celebrate the most famous mother of all, mother earth, but part of cleaning and keeping our environment green has a lot to do with recycling.

The City of Mosinee started weekly recycling April 1st, and it’s seen benefits in just three short weeks since it began.

Owner of IROW, Cory Tomczyk expected the city to see a return on their efforts, both financial way and keeping the environment green. However, he warns people to be careful on what you’re recycling because it could cause more harm than good.

Corey told us, “People want to recycle and something get a little over zealous and put things in that aren’t supposed to be there. You just have to watch that list of items that comes from your garbage provider to see what you can throw into recycling.”

He also stated that by diverting more materials away from landfills, the City of Mosinee will lower the tax expenses because of the smaller amounts of garbage they haul out.
