Early & Absentee Voting Ends

If you were hoping to skip the lines and vote early or by absentee balott, your time is up.

Wausau City Hall was packed all day long with people hoping to get their vote in early.

"Yesterday and today have been insane. When I came into work today there was probably 15 or 20 people waiting in the lobby for our doors to open," Wausau City Clerk Toni Rayala told NewsChannel 7.

Voters we spoke to today had all kinds of reasons for voting early, but the most popular one was avoiding the long lines on election day. Although there was a steady stream of people going in and out of Wausau City Hall, poll workers and employees kept things moving. The average wait time was only 5 to 10 minutes.

"It's a lot faster and alot easier than you might think it is," Amanda Jennings said after casting her early ballot.

A lot of people took advantage of the early voting and absentee option. The Wausau County Clerk said over 5,000 early or absentee ballots have already been cast.

"They're all sorted by ward. They're prepared to be delivered on election day to each poll site. We have two poll workers set up at each site and all they're going to do is process absentee ballots. Nothing is counted until November 6th," Rayla said.

For people who received their absentee ballot in the mail, they have until November 6th to have their ballot post marked. The ballot must be delivered by November 9th.
