1 Man Dead After Drowning in Vilas County

One man is dead after falling overboard from his boat and drowning in a Vilas County lake.

It happened just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The Vilas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a man was recovered from the water and not breathing on Catfish Lake in Eagle River.

The initial investigation determined the man fell overboard from his boat while it was being towed by another boat. The man was not wearing a life jacket. CPR was started immediately and the man was transported by boat to the boat landing off Catfish Lake Rd. The Eagle River Ambulance Transported the man to Eagle River Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Eagle River Fire Department, Eagle River Rescue, Eagle River Ambulance Service, Spirit Air, Vilas County Coroner and the Vilas County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident.

The incident is still under investigation.

The man's name is not being released pending notification of the family.
