A man is OK after his SUV caught fire early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Highway 52 Parkway and Stewart Avenue around 12:45 Tuesday morning near Menards in Wausau.
Tyler Binkowski told NewsChannel 7 that he had just enough time to grab some of his belongings.
"My car was running fine. I just got it out of the shop today for overheating problems," Binkowski said. "I hit the gas and it backfired. It burst into flames right away."
Binkowski said he was the only person in the vehicle.
"I saw the light from the flames through my window, and then (I saw) the smoke after," Binkowski said. "That's how I knew, and then I got out right away and grabbed whatever I could out of the back of it."
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
