STURGEON BAY, Wis. (AP) -- It looked like winter had returned to Door County. But, the piles of white precipitation were actually hail.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning late Monday night that included large hail. The hail wasn't that large. It was only about the size of a grape. But, collectively it left a layer that looked like fresh snow in central Door County.

WBAY-TV reports the sheriff's department says the hail in the Town of Sevastopol was about 3 to 4 inches deep in some spots.
