It's a story of canine loyalty and determination.
A Montana man was tragically killed in an avalanche while skiing. While his wife survived, their dog was also feared dead, but somehow he managed not only to survive but find his way back to the hotel where his owners were staying.
"It won't replace someone else, but its still a happy moment" said the late David Gaillard's daughter, Marguerite.
Step daughter Silver didn't know what to think when they heard their dog Ole had been found. "We thought that finding Ole meant finding his body but he's alive and it was just the most amazing thing, a little happiness, yeah."
Last Saturday Ole was with his owners David and Kerry Gaillard when the avalanche hit. No one will ever know exactly what Ole went through, but the small dog trekked several miles over rough terrain to get back to the motel.
Now Ole is back home in Bozeman as David's family grieves.
