Great Northern Distilling open Tuesday morning in Plover, making it the 12th craft distillery in the state, but the first in the central Wisconsin.
"Saw this as an opportunity to start something that's on the upswing and will be following in the footsteps of craft brewing,” explained head distiller Brian Cummins during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Cummins says the chamber of commerce expects people to take weekend trips to the area, stopping at the craft breweries and distillery. He also says their location in the Village Park makes it easy for people to pick up a bottle as they head up north.
Great Northern features potato vodka. It also has a bar open on weekends.
They're located at 1740 Park Ave. in Plover.
