Movie director and Wisconsin native, Jim Abrahams will be making a special appearance in the northwoods Friday.
Abrahams along with Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett will be hosting a special free screening of Jim's classic 1980 comedy "Airplane!" on June 28 at the Vilas Theater, 216 E. Wall Street in Eagle River starting with a 5 p.m. reception, program and 6 p.m. screening of the film. The event is free.
As part of the program Klett will screen Tourism's new summer TV ad shot at Plum Lake in Sayner, directed by David Zucker and starring his "Airplane!" star Robert Hays and announce Abraham's upcoming involvement in some new Wisconsin tourism TV commercials.
Refreshments will be provided by Sprecher Brewing and Trig's. The event is free and seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Advance tickets (limit of four per person) are available at the theater box office during regular hours or at the door the night of the event (while supplies last).
Donations will be accepted with proceeds divided between the Angel on My Shoulder and The Charlie Foundation charities.
