A barn is a total loss after a fire Friday morning in Marathon County.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on County Road C in the Town of Bergen, which is southwest of Mosinee.
"We believe the original building of origin was the barn. According to the owner, it may have been the result of a heating lamp they were using for some chickens. It will be investigated further, but thats a possible cause we are looking into. Once the barn started on fire there was quite a bit of flammable, combustible material in there. It went up rather quickly,” explained Mosinee Fire Chief, Josh Klug.
Another building close to the barn was also destroy and fire also spread to some nearby grass.
No people were hurt. It's unclear if any chickens died in the fire.
