MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A sheriff's deputy and a suspected drunken driver have been injured following a high-speed chase and crash in Milwaukee County.
Sheriff's officials say a deputy tried stopping the driver who was going the wrong way on a major thoroughfare early Tuesday. The driver jumped on Interstate 94 and took off.
Sheriff spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin tells WTMJ radio the driver was going more than 100 miles an hour over all lanes of traffic. The driver got on Highway 41 and crashed into a barrier in the stadium interchange. The deputy in pursuit crashed while trying to avoid some debris.
Both are expected to recover. Authorities say it's the suspect's third drunken driving offense.
