A 29-year-old year Merrill man is facing criminal charges after a deputy says he provided a false name during a traffic stop and attempted to bury a bag of marijuana on the side of the road.
The incident happened May 26 in Lincoln County.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, a Deputy was patrolling County Rd X near Barker Road near Merrill in the Town of Pine River when he observed a motorcycle traveling at 83 m.p.h. in the 55 m.p.h zone.
The Deputy said when he stopped the motorcycle near State Rd 64 the driver lied to him and provided a false name. He also says the man removed a plastic baggie from his pocket and try to bury it on the shoulder of the road. Investigators say the baggie was recovered and its contents later tested positive for marijuana.
The Merrill Police Department assisted on the stop. Police say the man was taken into custody for driving under the influence of drugs.
Justin Osero is free on a $3,000 signature bond. He charged with obstructing an officer and 2nd offense possession of THC.
He was also cited for second offense operating while intoxicated, operating after revocation speeding and having no motorcycle endorsement.
He'll return to court on June 5 for a clerical court appearance.
