For the residents of Pittsville, this weekend is all about having fun with the family. And it's all thanks to the 6th annual Family Fun Fest.
For two days straight, the non-profit horse back-riding ranch, Jeremiah's Crossing, hosts free events for the entire family to enjoy. The ranch is dedicated to helping children and adults cope with their special needs.
Family fun fest started today with a car show. The co-founder of the non-profit, Kathleen Harris, said although the events are free, they count on community donations to help fund the program for another year.
"Because we do not charge for lessons, this helps us to feed horses, and keep the lights on, and all those basic expenses that go with raising a herd of 17 animals; and keeping a non-profit running," said Harris.
Family fun day continues with an open house tomorrow morning at Jeremiah's Crossing, where 39 children will be competing in a ride-a-thon.
