A nearly three mile stretch of road that runs through the city of Wisconsin Dells is now under review to address new ways to handle traffic concerns during the summer months.
Wisconsin Dells Parkway, or US 12 which runs parallel through the city east of the 90/94 interstate, has had very little work since its initial construction in 1929.
After hundreds of accidents and two deaths in the last few years, the Department of Transportation is looking at ways to make the highly traveled tourism route safer.
According to WMTV-TV, consultants are recommending bike lanes to keep riders off of the streets and sidewalks.
The project is estimated to cost $25 million.
Construction is scheduled to start 2018 and be completed 2019.
