The Clark County Sheriff Department says they’ve busted a crime ring suspected of numerous incidents arson, burglary, theft and criminal damage property.
Chief Deputy Jim Backus says a property damage report on January 3 led investigators to arson fire and evidence leading to an arrest.
Backus tells WEAU-TV, “The initial call from a citizen indicated that a picnic table was backed over by a truck. Using the truck’s tracks left in snow, Backus said the responding deputy then followed a trail of destruction from Snyder Park to a house on Resewood Avenue outside Neillsville. When the deputy arrived he discovered the home was on fire and paged the fire department. Backus said when the smoke settled, deputies found evidence that lead them to other homes.
Eight people are accused of committing nearly 100 crimes in Clark and Wood Counties.
Christopher Bialozor, 21, Ryan Winslow, 19 and Dierdra Stolfi, 18 were arrested on January 20 and are accused of stealing cars.
More charges are expected to be filed in the coming weeks.
