The Marathon County Sheriff's Department is investigating a possible arson at an old school house in the Town of Hewitt last night.
Crews were called to the structure at Landing Road and County Highway Q at about 9:30 PM. The fire was extinguished before the structure was destroyed. Lieutenant Dale Wisnewski says the external origin of the fire appears suspicious. An arson investigator is working to determine the exact cause. Wisnewski says it's too early to determine if anyone would have had a motive to burn the building.
Joseph and Dawn Hojan, of Merrill, own the property.
