Firefighters responded to a major house fire on Hwy. 52, about five miles east of Wausau Sunday afternoon.
Dozens of firefighters from several departments, including Hewitt, Ringle, Easton and Weston tackled the fire, but it was too late.
The house will be a total loss.
The Ringle Fire Chief says he believes the fire started in the basement, but the cause is unknown.
Nobody was home as the fire broke out.
