The Hatley fire chief tells NewsChannel 7 the cause of a house fire Monday (5/5/14) is undetermined, but so far not considered suspicious. He says an investigation for a cause will continue.
A cat died in the fire, but no humans were hurt.
The house sustained serious smoke and heat damage.
Crews were paged to the home at 4535 Highway 153 in the Town of Ried just before 2 p.m.
Rosholt was called in to help fight the flames.
Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours.
The fire was called in by the Marathon County Highway Department who had been doing work nearby.
The chief says the fire apparently started in the living room. He says multiple layers of ceilings in the home that was a mobile home with had additions built on, complicated the effort to fight the flames.
