UPDATE: Rothschild Home Destroyed by Morning Fire

UPDATE: Tue 12:13 PM, Jul 09, 2013

There's still no word on what caused fire that destroyed a Rothschild home Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to the 700 block of Leon Street around 7 a.m.

A neighbor spoke to NewsChannel 7 about what happened this morning. Pauline Grimm said, "I was still in bed around 7 this morning and somebody knocked at my door and it happened to be a man walking by and he said there's smoke coming from next door." She said she called 911 and emergency crews arrived a short time later.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Ostrowski with the Rothschild Police Department said when he arrived on scene he saw smoke coming from the eaves of the house and a short time later there were flames coming from a window.

The acting fire chief for the Rothschild Fire Department said the fire may have started on the south side of the house, either in the basement or the bedrooms upstairs but the cause is still under investigation.

No one was injured, however a firefighter needed to be treated for heat exhaustion.
