Chalk art will decorate the 400 Block for the ninth year of Chalkfest. Artists come from all over to draw downtown while people watch the progression of a masterpiece.
All skill levels and ages of artists participate in what looks like a complicated process, but it’s actually quite simple
Mort McBain, Chief Artist of Chalkfest, said, “The basic technique is making a grid system. Then you must transfer that to coloring on the concrete in squares. It makes it a real easy painting and comes out in beautiful proportions.”
Chalkfest officially starts Saturday morning at 8 and runs until Sunday afternoon at 4.
