The city of Wausau continues its plan to revitalize the riverfront district with two new purchases.
The city will close on a parking lot and the old Sav-O-Supply warehouse on N. First Street next month. The purchase will cost $308,000.
The city's community development department has been eying the blighted Sav-O-Supply building for some time.
"This building has been on the minds of the community for a number of years," said Ann Werth. "It has been an eye sore in this part of town."
Werth says the latest properties will add to the 15 acres along the riverfront already acquired by the city.
She says the city's goal is to make the area between Bridge and Stewart Streets more attractive and to encourage new development.
The city is also developing the river edge trail.
