WESTON, Wis. - Aspirus is offering a free diabetes day camp for kids with diabetes between the ages of 6-12 on June 21.
This event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Aspirus YMCA, located at 3402 Howland Drive in Weston. All parents, children, teachers and community members interested in learning more about Type 1 diabetes are encouraged to attend.
The day camp features a mother and her daughter, who will share their story about living with Type 1 diabetes. The two will talk from 9:20-10:20 a.m. The rest of the day camp includes:
· Fun activities that are used as teachable moments to help kids learn about diabetes.
· Indoor and outdoor fun with staff from the Aspirus YMCA and Diabetes Education Center.
· An opportunity for children to meet other kids with Type 1 diabetes.
The day camp is free to attend, but registration is requested by calling the Aspirus Information Center at 715.847.2380. Attendees should bring their own lunch, but healthy snacks also will be provided.
