Many kids love the excitement of opening a fresh package of crayons or markers for the first day of school. Not all kids have what they need though.
That’s where the “Fill a Backpack…Fill a Need” program in Wausau comes in. The event fills nearly 3000 backpacks for under-privileged children in Marathon County.
Organizers say they get involved because the need grows bigger and bigger every year.
Todd Nagel, President and CEO of River Valley Bank said, “We get involved with the Workplace Volunteer Council and help out to get it done because that’s the best thing for the community.”
Crayons, backpacks, and markers are just some of the many materials needed to be donated. The event runs until August 7th. Go to www.unitedway.com to find the drop off sites and lists on what to donate.
