UPDATE: Necedah Man Convicted in Child Pornography Case

A 55-year-old Necedah man charged with 20 counts of possessing child pornography has reached a plea deal with prosecutors and will avoid a jury trial.

Thursday, in a Juneau County courtroom, Bradley Carver pleaded no contest to five counts of possessing child porn, as result 15 other counts were dismissed but will be considered during his sentencing hearing in March.

The charges against him resulted from an investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department into the use of “peer-to-peer” file sharing programs for distributing child pornography.

According to the criminal complaint, a Wood County investigator was able to monitor traffic on the peer-to-peer software and saw files suspected to be child pornography distributed through an IP address that was later determined to be assigned to Carver.

In addition, the criminal complaint alleges that when a search warrant was conducted of the defendant’s computer and digital storage devices, more than 10,000 images and videos of suspected child pornography and child erotica were recovered by investigators.
