Wisconsin produced 227 million pounds of cheese in June. That’s 25% of the nation’s cheese production for the month. That’s up two percent from last year.
Half of the cheese made in the dairy state is Italian. We’re also number three in the United States in making cheddar. Mullins cheese Knowlton has been making quality products for years, and perfected their recipe to keep their customers coming back.
Wisconsin is the leading state in cheese production. At Mullins they make all kinds, but they’ve had to grow their business to keep up with the demand for cheese in the U.S.
Bill Mullins, Vice President of Mullins cheese told us, “We’ve expanded here. We now have 170 people employed between our plants and manufacture about 12 semi loads of cheese per day.”
Mullins now uses whey and protein from cheese to sell for sports nutrition products. This new change allows them to continue to be a competitor within the state.
