Criminal charges have now been filed against a Wausau East High School student accused of bringing a pocket knife to school in March.

On March 17, the school resource officer was informed that a student, Thomas Eiden, 17, appeared to be impaired. Investigators say Eiden smelled like alcohol, could not walk straight and had glassy eyes.

Eiden refused a preliminary breath test, but according to court documents he was issued a citation. He later admitted to drinking beer at a friend's house.

Eiden consented to a search and was found to be in possession of a pocket knife. He reportedly told police he forgot to take it out of his pocket from the weekend.

Eiden is due in court on July 17.
