A ceremony held at the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial in Wisconsin Rapids Saturday proved a fitting tribute to all those who have died in the line of duty.
The Final Alarm and Roll Call Ceremony honored all 268 of the firefighters that have died in the line of duty in the State of Wisconsin.
The ceremony paid special tribute to the five firefighters who have died in the past year. Memorial flags were presented to their families and the names of those lost were added to the memorial wall.
Event organizers say the ceremony is not only about honoring the fallen, but showing support to their families.
" The goal for us is to honor the memory of our fallen, and assist the family members with the grieving process and let them know they are not forgotten." says Steve Quam of the State Firefighters Memorial.
The day also featured a procession through the streets of Wisconsin Rapids to honor the memory of all who have been lost.
