A 37-year-old Rib Lake woman convicted of four counts of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide will spend 25 years in a mental facility.

Prosecutors say Heidi Mann, 37, attempted to kill four of her six children -- ages 3, 5, 8 and 11 --by carbon monoxide asphyxiation in March. According to court documents, Mann put four of her six children in an SUV and left it running for two hours in closed garage. The criminal complaint states Mann said she did not believe the children could handle her upcoming divorce.

A judge ruled Mann is not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Mann can petition for release from the mental institution every six months.

Prosecutors say Mann loaded the children into an SUV in an enclosed garage on March 8 and let the engine run for about two hours.

The criminal complaint obtained by the Associated Press, quotes Mann as telling investigators she didn't think the children were old enough to handle her pending divorce.

Deputies say the children are physically OK.

A Taylor County woman charged with four counts of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide has pleaded not guilty by mental disease or defect.

Heidi Mann, 37, appeared in Taylor County Court Monday for a preliminary hearing. A judge determined there is enough evidence for her case to head to trial.

Mann will be ordered to undergo a competency exam before the case moves forward.

A Taylor County Judge has denied a motion to lower the bond of a woman accused of attempting to kill her four children.

Heidi Mann, 37, was formally charged Tuesday in Taylor County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say Mann put four of her six children in an SUV and left it running for two hours in closed garage. The criminal complaint states Mann said she did not believe the children could handle her upcoming divorce.

According to online court records, a bond modification may be considered in the future.

Mann remains in custody on a $200,000 cash bond.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 19.

A Taylor County mother accused of trying to kill four of her six children to spare them the pain of her divorce is expected to be charged with four felonies Tuesday.

The criminal complaint against Heidi Mann, of Rib Lake was filed June 20.

Prosecutors say Mann loaded the children into an SUV in an enclosed garage and let the engine run for about two hours.

The criminal complaint obtained by the Associated Press, quotes Mann as telling investigators she didn't think the children were old enough to handle her pending divorce. The children are 3, 6 and 9, and the oldest turns 12 on Friday.

If convicted the 37-year-old faces a maximum penalty of 240 years in prison.

Deputies say the children are physically OK.

The Taylor County Clerk of Courts Office says bond has been set at $200,000 cash for the Rib Lake mother accused of trying to kill her four children.

Investigators say Heidi Mann, 37, allegedly tried to kill four of her six children -- ages 3, 5, 8 and 11 --with carbon monoxide.

The incident happened March 8.

Mann will return to court on June 25 when she is expected to be charged with four counts of attempted homicide.

MEDFORD, Wis. (AP) -- A woman accused of trying to kill four of her six children is scheduled for a bond hearing in Taylor County.

The 37-year-old mother is to appear in court Monday morning.

Sheriff's authorities say the woman attempted to kill the four children by carbon monoxide asphyxiation.

The children are ages 3, 5, 8 and 11. Sheriff Bruce Daniels said Monday the children are physically OK and are being cared for by family members. Daniels says sheriff's officials are recommending charges of attempted homicide.

The arrest stemmed from a March 8 incident at the family's home in the Village of Rib Lake. Daniels says his department learned of the incident last week. The sheriff says he couldn't provide any further details because the investigation is ongoing.

MEDFORD, Wis. (AP) -- A central Wisconsin woman is accused of trying to kill four of her children by carbon monoxide asphyxiation.

Taylor County sheriff's deputies arrested Heidi Mann, 37, Friday.

The sheriff's office says the arrest stemmed from a March 8 incident at her Village of Rib Lake home. Authorities say the woman allegedly tried to kill four of her six children -- ages 3, 5, 8 and 11 --with carbon monoxide.

The woman is expected to appear in court next week. The investigation continues.
