Carthage College in Kenosha to Get $40M Upgrade

Carthage College in Kenosha is investing $40 million to renovate its science facilities.

A Kenosha News report says construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2014.

College spokesman Brad Andrews says enrollment in science classes has soared, leading to a need for more space. The project will increase classroom and laboratory space by 40 percent and will include the construction of a 35,000-square-foot addition to the main science hall.

College President Gregory Woodward says the college will pay for the project through existing funds along with ongoing fundraising efforts.

The new facilities will include 12 laboratories, an upgraded planetarium, computer rooms, faculty offices and an outdoor classroom.

Andrews says about 25 percent of Carthage graduates have science degrees.
