Governor Scott Walker and Democratic candidate Mary Burke are making it clear that job creation is a top priority in their campaign.
Mary Burke made a stop in Wausau earlier today.
In the last month, nationwide job creation has gone up and unemployment rates have gone down according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, here in Wisconsin, Burke says we still need to get better. It is something she feels the Walker administration has been unsuccessful in.
"Under Scott Walker we are last, dead last in the midwest in terms of job creation. I know that we can do better, I know the people of Wisconsin can do better but what it needs is a priority and a focus on that." Burke says.
Meanwhile, Walker says that jobs numbers have improved significantly since he took office.
"Overall, Wisconsin is one of only 22 states that have added more than 100,000 new jobs since December of 2010, but we're going to try and build off of that growth and move forward." Gov. Walker says.
Walker toured the Wausau Container Company yesterday.
He has made manufacturing job creation a major focus of his campaign.
