The Wisconsin gubernatorial election may be nearly 13 months away, but it isn't stopping Democratic candidate Mary Burke from touring the state in an effort to meet small business owners.
Burke made a stop in Wausau today. She toured the Entrepreneurial and Education Center. She met with those who have recently started new businesses in our area.
Burke says she has begun campaigning so early so that she can get an opportunity to assess the needs of people in our state.
"That is why I wanted to jump into the race and do it now because I do care about getting out around the state and having the chance to make sure they get to know me and get their thoughts and what they see as priorities for the state." Burke says.
Meanwhile Governor Scott Walker is yet to announce his bid for re-election. He says he won't be doing so until sometime in early 2014 so that he can focus on his tasks as governor rather than begin campaigning.
