WEAU-TV out of Eau Claire is reporting that a school district service agency says a web portal was hacked. CESA 10's administrator says its an old web portal where teachers registered for classes. He says they're now using a new site that's not affected.
CESA, or Cooperative Education Service Agency, serves a number of districts in the state including some right here in our area like Abbotsford, Spencer and Neillsville.
CESA did send a statement to those affected. It says that even though the information hacked is old, it did include passwords. Teachers are asked to change their passwords if they tend to use the same one for other things.
WEAU did locate the hacker's page, it appears to be from Africa. It claims it has e-mails and phone numbers as well as passwords for 8,000 people.
