Sunday is the final day of the Stevens Point 90FM Trivia 45 and as the hours tick by, volunteers change shifts, and players keep listening in trying to keep up with the madness, it's a challenge to stay awake and alert for 54 hours straight. However, most have a strategy and that strategy is coffee.
Places like Emy J's happily filled that need for caffeine.
"This Saturday I had out-the-door lines at 7 AM, people waiting outside before 7 to get in and get coffee, which was great," said Batista, Lucy Hatfield.
Food is, of course, an essential too. The Trivia Food Coordinator, Nate Kirchenwitz, said pizza is a crowd favorite.
"As much as there is of pizza, everybody seems to like the pizza shifts," he said.
Toppers Pizza in particular nearly tripled in business over the weekend and the shift manager said they're handling the boost well with only two deliveries out of more than 140 being late.
"Things were going out the door in 14 minutes or less, which is pretty fast especially when you're getting 15-20 pizza orders at a time," said Robert Levandowski. "Trivia is great!"
Hotels in the area are also booked. The general manager at the Comfort Suites said people often book for the next year as soon as they check out. He added he hopes Trivia stays in Stevens Point forever.
"Everybody leaves, not only our hotel, but everybody leaves the community of Stevens Point with just this great, great feeling about the community and what's happened here over the weekend," Doug Meyers said.
