A new skate park is in the works in Nekoosa, thanks in part to one local business owner.
Randy Soika co-owns Parti Animal, a motorcycle shop in the city. He wanted to do something nice for the community while promoting his business. So Soika decided to approach the school district, and that's when he learned they needed help turning Thompson Park into a skate park.
"You know, a small town like this. Everybody's really niched," said Soika, "So that's where I kinda wanted to lean out to the kids."
Soika decided to host a fundraiser to help build the skate park. The fundraiser included a motorcycle wash, give-a-ways every half hour and a brat fry.
Soika said since the turn out was so good, he's thinking about making fundraising an annual event.
