The Badgers are one win away from the NCAA Championship. While all of Wisconsin is rooting for Bucky to win, one local food joint is cheering just a little bit harder than the rest of us.
Right now the tables at The Milwaukee Burger Company in Wausau are empty, but come Monday owners are hoping for a full house. That's because their grand opening coincides with the NCAA Championship game.
"We would love if Wisconsin would win on Saturday because you know it would give us a boost and have a really great environment in here," co-owner Matt Letnes tells NewsChannel 7.
With 40 beers on tap and just as many TV's, this family owned burger joint is ready to embrace the madness.
"It's a fun sports environment with really good fresh burgers and french fries," Letnes says adding, "If you come here for the first time, I think you have to try the brown sugar bacon burger. It's bacon that's coated with brown sugar with caramelized onions on it and big cheddar cheese. It is amazing."
Everything at the restaurant is made fresh with local ingredients.
"It's a family business and it's a Wisconsin product. We're only in Wisconsin. So we feel really good about it."
How are competitors feeling about the new food joint in town? Tried and true fan favorites, like Buffalo Wild Wings, aren't worried.
"Even with a new restaurant opening we're still predicting a a full house," Buffalo Wild Wings Manager Lyndsey Dassows says.
Now all the badgers have to do is win.
You can catch the Final Four game this Saturday on TBS. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:49 PM. Tru-TV will also be broadcasting the game with Wisconsin announcer Wayne Larrivee and former Badger Mike Kelly.
