DEVELOPING: Bullied Wisconsin Rapids Wrestler Sues District, Coaches, Administrators

A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the teenage boy who said he was harassed by star members of the Wisconsin Rapids Wrestling Team, suing the District, Coaches, and Administrators for failing to protect him.

The Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune is reporting Wausau attorney Christine Bremer Muggli filed the lawsuit because the district "has a duty to protect all its students, not just the stars of its wrestling team."

Besides the School District, the lawsuit names:

Superintendent Colleen Dickman
Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kathi Stebbins-Hintz
HR Director and former Lincoln High School Principal Ryan Christianson
Lincoln High School Associate Principal Rodney Henke
Director of Pupil Services Trudy DeSimons
Wrestling Coach Scott Benitz
Assistant Wrestling Coach Benjamin Jahnke
Assistant Wrestling Coach Dennis Nelson

Zachary Benitz, Kasey Einerson, Rylan Lubeck, and Devin Peterson all reached plea deals after being charged with disorderly conduct after the freshman's claims of harassment in 2011.

The lawsuit claims the teammates took advantage of the boy's visual, hearing, and developmental disabilities when they bullied him. It seeks compensation for damages, court costs, attorney fees, and any additional relief the court deems fair.
