The Brokaw Village president is hopeful the sale of the former Wausau paper mill will bring much needed jobs to the area.
"We're hopeful for a new start, fresh beginning and believe Eric Spirtas and his Niagara Development team can get this done," Jeff Weisenberger said in a news release.
A newly launched developer, Brokaw Development LLC has acquired the property and assets of the former plant. Brokaw Development has formed to manage the redevelopment of the former mill.
Spirtas says choosing the Brokaw site has many positives.
"Wisconsin is very proactive right now in business, they want to see new, fresh faces," he said.
Wausau Paper announced it was closing the mill last winter, leaving hundreds of people jobless.
Spirtas wants to make sure whoever gets into the property will be job creators.
"We're communicating with several people that have shown interest," he said.
The developer has the ability to develop parts of the property or the entire thing to one or more businesses looking for space.
