Losing a loved one is one of the worst things to go through, especially if you're a child.
The Boys and Girls Club of Portage County is partnering with a camp specializing with grief to help teenagers and children.
Camp Hope happens three times a year in Rosholt. The weekend camp gives young people an opportunity to enjoy their surroundings and to bond with others. They also share stories about their lost loved ones and are guided through their grief.
"We have some activities that will spark discussion of the person they love that died, like a memory collage or journaling, we have a professional drummer that comes and does an hour of drumming," said Becky Loy, the camp's director.
Loy founded Camp Hope after losing her young daughter many years ago.
Saturday, Sept. 15, children and teenagers grieving the loss of a loved one are invited to a group session at the Boys and Girls Club in Plover from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
It's free, but anyone interested should register with the club. The sessions will continue every third Wednesday of the month.
