The Polk County Sheriff's Department has released the name of a 12-year-old boy who was killed during an ATV accident over the weekend.

According to WEAU-TV, the boy was riding the ATV at a home in Alden, Wis., when he tried to make a turning maneuver. That's when the wheels of the ATV went off the edge and over a steep embankment. Deputies say the four-wheeler rolled on top of him.

The accident happened Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

The victim, Alexander Palen, of Minneapolis, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Authorities said Palen was wearing a helmet.
