A judge has ruled there is enough evidence for a man accused of attempting to rob a mother at knife point to head to trial.
Robert Carey, 40, is behind bars on a $50,000 cash bond. The incident reportedly happened as the alleged victim pushed a stroller with her two young children.
According to court documents, the incident happened August 22 near Brockmeyer Park in Wausau. The woman told police a man pushed her to the ground and displayed a knife. The woman says she screamed and kicked the man and he eventually ran off.
Police say the suspect, they identified as Robert Carey, was later arrested at gunpoint and taken into custody.
According to court documents during the arrest Carey reportedly said he "was having a bad day and shouldn't have done what he did to that lady". Police say Carey said he did threaten the woman with a kitchen knife and demand money. He also said he discarded the knife in the woods. It was later located by a K9 officer.
Carey is charged with attempted armed robbery and battery. He'll return to court Sept. 10 for a clerical court appearance.
