A Schofield man has now been charged in a significant meth bust last Friday in Lincoln County.

According to a news release, Joel R. Conti, 44, was pulled over on West Main Street at Wright Street in Merrill for a defective exhaust.

A records search showed Conti had two previous convictions in Marathon County for methamphetamine related crimes. That's when a K9 officer was paged to the scene and alerted officers to the presence of drugs.

Authorities say multiple packages of methamphetamine were located in the vehicle.

Conti is behind bars on a $10,000 cash bond. He'll return to court on July 25.
